Our committee supplements the City’s maintenance efforts for the Clarendon Street Playground – from sweeping pathways inside the playground to ensuring the playground is litter-free. The Playground Committee also organizes seasonal events in the Spring and Fall and coordinates the street closure on Marlborough Street on October 31 to ensure families have a safe and festive trick-or-treating experience.
About the Spring 2023 Clarendon Street Playground Renovation
The City plans to renovate Clarendon Street Playground in the Spring of 2023. The project, led and executed by the Parks Department, has been underway for two years. All funds for the renovation are covered by the City as well as design and implementation.
In addition to the public hearings held at the onset of the project, NABB and a working group, including members of NABB’s Board of Directors, NABB’s Architectural Committee, NABB’s Playground Committee, NABB’s New Mom’s Group, the Garden Club of Back Bay and Heads of the surrounding neighborhood schools have liaised regularly with the Parks Department and have provided feedback pertaining to the proposed renovation.
The Parks Department has also presented its plans to the Back Bay Architectural Commission (BBAC) and is in the process of finalizing renovation plans. We are optimistic that the final design presentation reflects our collective considerations and will share updates with the community via the NABB newsletter as soon as they are available.
