Women’s Lunch Place Opens New Community Gardens

On Monday August 14, the Women’s Lunch Place held a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil their new gardens at the corner of Berkeley and Newbury Street in the Back Bay. Jennifer Hanlon Wigon, Executive Director of the Women’s Lunch Place explained that the guests of the Women’s Lunch Place would be the primary caretakers of the gardens, as gardening nurtures physical and mental health. The City of Boston provided funds for the gardens and Sheila Dillon, Chief of the Mayor’s Office of Housing was present to hold the ribbon. She thanked the Women’s Lunch Place for enriching the neighborhood of the Back Bay. The Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay had several members and officers in attendance at the ceremony, including those from the NABB Homelessness Task Force.

NABB partners with the Women’s Lunch Place at the Harvest Benefit, scheduled this year for November 9 (https://womenslunchplace.org/nabb), and is a strong supporter and partner of the Women’s Lunch Place to ensure services to reduce and prevent homelessness in our city.
