Women’s Memorial Event Unveils Talking Statues

Despite the possibility of inclement weather, a good crowd of residents, elected officials, NABB board members and interested parties gathered to hear presentations to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Women’s Memorial on Commonwealth Ave (by sculptor Meredith Bergmann) and to learn about the new “talking statues” interactive art installation which brings the memorial statues “to life” using audio recordings which can be accessed via QR codes on the Memorial or at the memorial website.

Statue narratives were recorded by Mayor Michelle Wu for Lucy Stone, Attorney General Andrea Campbell for Abigail Adams, and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley for Phyllis Wheatley.
